We have new news we would like to share with Jonathan’s fan club!
As you all recall Jonathan has a congenital condition called atresia ani. This is a congenital condition where there is a narrowing of his colon and fecal material gets stuck and makes it very difficult to have a normal bowel movement.
He had his first bougienage (ballooning) procedure last Wednesday January 7, 2015. Jonathan did great and has been acting very happy! His stools have been normal and he has not been straining like he was in the past. Everyone at the clinic has been quite proud of him and relieved that Jonathan has not needed several baths per day to stay clean. On Tuesday January 13, he seemed a little more uncomfortable when attempting to defecate and was somewhat unhappy when he was picked up.
Last Wednesday, January 14, Dr. Hoch from VCA South Paws came to visit and performed Jonathan’s second ballooning procedure. As usual, he great during anesthesia and Dr. Hoch felt his first procedure made quite a difference. After his procedure he was given Simbadol again and has been very active playing with everything he can get his paws on post anesthesia!
We’re happy to say that our doctors will be performing his future procedures here at NOVA Cat Clinic! Thanks to Dr. Hoch and her wonderful lesson today on how to perform Jonathan’s procedure! Management has made all of our necessary purchases of supplies for his next few rounds of this procedure.
We are hopeful that this process continues to go well and that he will not need surgery. Thank you to all of his fans out there for his donations. Without them we would not have had the opportunity to give him the fighting chance he deserves! Please visit him anytime during our business hours.
Stay tuned for the next update!
