Dental Contest Winner and Answers

Congratulations to Katherine Thompson.  She was one of two people who answered all of the questions correctly.  We had the cats hit the randomizer and select the winner.

The two most challenging questions were:

#12 Effective dental cleaning can be performed in cats who are awake or lightly sedated, without the use of anesthesia.48% of respondents got this one correct with the answer being False. Here is an article from the Scottsdale Cat Clinic discussing this question.

#13 What percentage of cats with severe dental disease or stomatitis are positive for FIV. 20%

Interestingly, 20% of respondents got the correct answer for this one.  The literature ranges but a study showed that 20% of cats that are ill are positive for FIV.  Ellen had a good article discussing FIV testing.

Almost everyone answered the remaining questions correctly.

A dark red line on the edge of the gum
