Although it feels more like Seattle, WA than Washington, DC, summer should be around the corner. We want to be sure that you do not leave your cat in a car unattended. Every year there are hundreds of cats that die in hot cars.
The excuses “I’ll just be a minute” or “I have cracked the windows” will not save an overheated cat.
Cars heat up very quickly even on a cloudy summer day. In 15 minutes, the temperature inside the car will from 70ºF (21ºC) up to 99ºF (37ºC).
